Uganda’s AIDS epidemic, extreme poverty and decades of civil conflict have left our country with more than 2.4 million orphans ~ the most of any country in the world. UNICEF estimates that this number will reach a staggering 3.5 million by 2010.
Widows And Orphans Empowerment (WAOE)-Ministries is on the ground and working with local non-governmental organizations and community groups to address the needs of Uganda’s most vulnerable population.
We are providing the necessities of life today - shelter, food, clothing, education, and medical care if needed. We are also looking forward and ensuring the children in our care have the life skills necessary to achieve success in their future.
Due to a lack of government-subsidized education, extended families and orphanages face an enormous financial barrier to educating Uganda's children. Widows And Orphans Empowerment (WAOE)-Ministries is helping to address this unmet need by providing education and support to AIDS-related orphans and vulnerable children, while at the same time promoting global awareness of the effects of HIV/AIDS. Through our education and support programs here in Uganda. We are able to give hope to children in Uganda and help the world understand the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS on children in developing nations.
